North Lake Tahoe “knows how to party.”

Back in the 1980s, Tahoe saw a lot of tourists during Christmas, and people would hang around in January and February. But as soon as the Bay Area warmed up in March, Tahoe would become a ghost town.So one day, Everson pitched an idea to some of his friends, hoping to bring more people to Tahoe for spring skiing. He came up with the concept of a winter carnival at the end of February and the beginning of March. They’d call it Snowfest.

For a long time, Tahoe used to claim that Snowfest was the biggest winter carnival in America. I’m not sure that was ever true. But it was a good time.
