Crow’s artwork and other objects have been a point of contention since recent news cast him in the national spotlight.
Harlan Crow's estate on Preston Road includes principal leaders of the Italian Renaissance by sculptor Gabbrielli Donatello.In his backyard along the rear lawn and the estate’s lower reaches, Crow owns a collection of stone and bronze statues of fallen communist leaders that he has arranged along a tree-shaded walkway. The sculptures are of icons and dictators including Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin, Fidel Castro, Karl Marx and Che Guevara.
“The white streaks on the coat are not pigeon droppings, but the remains of paint hurled on the bronze by Russians who hated him and his politics,” Greene wrote.
