New Jersey was first inhabited by several Native American tribes about 10,000 years ago.
The largest was the Lenape tribe, part of the larger Algonquin tribe. At the time, 20,000 Lenape members settled along the Delaware River.
Food sold featured a variety of outdoor festival favorites, including arepas, a Native American specialty also associated with Latin cuisines, which comprises sweet corn that is mashed, stuffed with mozzarella cheese then fried.
