Ivona Jovanovic was shot in the chest at a friend's home in September 2019 and later died in hospital. The gun has never been found.
A coroner has told an inquest into the death of a Gold Coast shooting victim his role was not to "effectively reinstate" a previous failed prosecution, and anyone with that "misguided assumption" would be disappointed.
In 2021, that friend — Christos Panagakos, who Ms Jovanovic had previously dated long-term — was charged with her manslaughter.'Not about ascribing guilt'Before any witnesses were called, Coroner Donald MacKenzie reminded the court the purpose of the hearing was not to attribute blame. He told the court if anyone had a "misguided assumption" he could "effectively reinstate" the original criminal charges, "you will be disappointed".
