The bald eagle was taken to Last Chance Forever in San Antonio to get treatment on a...

, a bird of prey conservation organization, said the raptor was at the facility to get treatment on a broken leg. It was found at a baseball field about a mile from the North Side conservancy, which is located at 311 E. North Loop Road near the U.S. 281 and Wurzbach Parkway intersection.

Ian Joplin, a raptor technician at LCF, said the eagle did its best to evade capture Tuesday morning. "They don't understand that we're trying to help them," Joplin said."He was able to use one of his legs and his wings, almost like rowing, where he would use his uninjured leg and then use his wings to sort of catch himself and stop from falling over."

The eagle had gotten itself a"considerable" distance away from the conservancy despite its injury, Joplin told the Express-News. The raptor, however, did not suffer additional injuries after escaping and is in good condition, Joplin added.
