Police said the driver was able to get to a Turkey Hill, where the police were called, about 10 minutes after the shooting.
Police have narrowed down where a drive-by shooting injured a man who was driving with an infant passenger in Lancaster County on Wednesday afternoon. Northern Lancaster County Regional Police said officers were originally called to the Turkey Hill on Main Street in East Petersburg borough around 4:42 p.
m., but quickly realized the shooting occurred elsewhere. The man was inside his vehicle when the shots were fired, police said, and then drove to the Turkey Hill. In an earlier statement, police said the injured man, only identified as being a 21-year-old from Lancaster, was driving a BMW that was hit several times. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, according to police. He was able to speak to police from the hospital. Police said an infant was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting but was not harmed. The infant was cared for by family members who had arrived after.Police said officers have found evidence connected to the shooting at the intersection of Route 72 and Lititz Road in East Hempfield Township. Witnesses were able to help police identify the original shooting scene and helped clarify that the shooting occurred 10 minutes prior to the 911 call. Investigators found that the driver dropped off a woman north of Penn Township and he was returning to Lancaster with the child when the shooting started, police said. Police have said the shooting is not believed to be related to the child’s custody or domestic-related in any way. However, police said there is evidence to suggest that the shooting was not random and there is a connection between the shooter and the injured man. Anyone with information on the shooting should contact East Hempfield police or the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department at 717-733-0965. You can also submit a tip to
