A 21-year-old Forks man is facing felony assault charges after allegedly injuring a four-month-old child significantly.
FILE – A photo of the Seattle Children's hospital emergency room entrance on November 28, 2022. An four-month-old infant is recovering in intensive care after their babysitter allegedly seriously injured the child to the point they had to be airlifted to a hospital.
Clallam County Sheriff’s Office deputies were contacted by Children’s Protective Services for a suspected child abuse investigation on March 26. CPS reached out after receiving information that a four-month-old child was brought to Forks Community Hospital by a caregiver with significant injuries on March 23.
According to police, emergency room doctors in Forks said the child suffered from a brain bleed, fractured femur and fractured rib. After being flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, emergency room doctors there determined the injuries were not accidental.CCSO detectives investigated the cause of the child’s injuries at Forks Police Department’s request. Their investigation revealed probable cause that a 21-year-old Forks man caused the injuries.
He was arrested for second degree assault on April 1 and booked into Clallam County Jail. KOMO News is not naming the man until he has been officially charged.
