The John Bennett Athletic Complex Bubble in Toms River “was compromised” by the pressure of snow and ice Saturday afternoon, district spokesman Michael Kenny said in an email. The bubble is monitored during storms like this, Kinney said, so the building inspector, Toms River Fire Department, and the manufacturer of the bubble have already been consulted.
“Thus far, no damage such as rips or tears has been reported, although it’s difficult to accurately assess at this time because of the weather,” Kenny said. The bubble was fully deflated with the go-ahead from the manufacturer, Asati, Saturday afternoon, Kenny said. The John Bennett Athletic Complex Bubble holds indoor track meets, including an upcoming high school state sectional championship meet next month.
