Christian Myers has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a machine gun, resisting law enforcement and more battery-related charges.
A probable cause affidavit states police were trying to take Myers into custody at the time of the shooting after his child’s mother reported hours earlier that he shot at them in Broad Ripple.
The woman told police Myers had their 3-year-old daughter, and she was the custodial parent. Worrying about the child’s safety, police tried to place an emergency ping on Myers’ cellphone but were unsuccessful. Myers drove northbound until he lost control and crashed into another car near the intersection of Binford Boulevard and Kessler Boulevard East Drive. Police said he got out of the driver’s seat, handgun at his right side, and ran. Another man in the passenger seat also ran from officers.
Myers, the affidavit said, ran until he reached a green electrical box where he appeared to stop and rest. That's when shots were fired.
