Indiana police officer and his wife adopt infant girl abandoned in 'baby box'

An Indiana police officer and his wife opened their homes to Myah, a child found abandoned in a 'baby box' when she was one day old. They shared their story on 'Fox & Friends Weekend.'

He said that he and his wife were initially the foster parents of Kaia — and after one year of fostering her, they had additional foster-to-adopt training. Shelby Faltynski said she had no idea about the Safe Haven Baby Boxes until she received a call asking if she'd consider applying to take in a baby who was left in one of the boxes. Shelby Faltynski said that she knew"nothing" about Safe Haven Baby Boxes until she and her husband received a call from the Department of Child Services about Myah. Indiana's"Safe Haven Law" allows for infants up to 30 days to be anonymously abandoned without any criminal penalties, as long as they do not show signs of abuse, the state's website says.
