EDGERTON, Ohio - A man from Indiana was taken into custody after a high-speed chase in the State of Ohio lead to an infant being ejected from his car., 32-year-old Zachary Chervenka of Butler, Indiana was located after he allegedly fled authorities at a high rate of speed in Bryan, Ohio.
Authorities wrote that Chervenka was being sought due to an active arrest warrant. Authorities attempted to make contact with Chervenka at a Walmart location at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, but when approached by officers, he allegedly "entered his vehicle and fled the scene with two children inside." During the pursuit, a nine-month-old infant was "ejected from the moving car." The department wrote that its officers didn't notice the child fall out, but ended the pursuit due to "hazardous weather conditions and high speeds."that the child was out in freezing weather conditions for around an hour before they were found. In the Facebook post, authorities confirmed that the child was taken to Toledo Hospital for evaluation and was reported to be in "fair condition.
“The reckless actions of the defendant placed multiple lives, including those juveniles, at significant risk of serious injury or death,” a summary filed in court reads, according to WPTA.
