The opening of Raiders of the Lost Ark saw Indiana Jones recover an idol, only to have it snatched away. But fans may not know Indy stole it back.
Raiders of the Lost Ark’s opening scene is one of the most iconic in cinema history, introducing audiences to Indiana Jones in a thrilling sequence that sees him retrieve a golden idol from a booby-trapped temple. And though Indy’s efforts are seemingly all for naught after his rival Belloq takes the idol from his hands, Dr. Jones managed to steal the idol back and get it into a museum after all.
Indiana Jones Ends Up With The Idol After All Connecticut’s National Museum holds a gala in New York City to celebrate Indy acquiring the idol. When museum curator Marcus Brody attempts to put the idol in a vault, he is confronted by Hovito warriors, members of the Peruvian tribe from whom the idol was originally taken. The warriors’ leader, Xomec, tells Brody that they are descendants of the Chachapoyan people and the idol is sacred to them.
