Short Round actor Ke Huy Quan addresses whether audiences can expect to see his character cameo in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Following rumors about Ke Huy Quan’s potential return as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the actor himself now sets the record straight. Directed by James Mangold and expected to serve as the final installment in the long-running franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny sees Harrison Ford's intrepid archeologist facing off against Nazis once more, this time in 1969.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Ahead of the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny release date this summer, Quan now definitively addresses whether he will be appearing in the upcoming sequel in an interview with ET. Unfortunately, it sounds like those hoping for Short Round's return are in for some disappointment. Check out Quan's full comment below:
"I want to say [yes], but no. Here’s the thing. I don't want to disappoint the fans. I've joked about it all the time, but reuniting with Harrison after 38 years, that was very special."How Short Round Could Return To The Indiana Jones Franchise Although Short Round won't be appearing in the upcoming sequel, it's not out of the question that Quan could eventually reprise the role at some point down the road.
Mangold himself has confirmed, however, that neither Ford's character nor Helena, Indy's goddaughter in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, will be in the show. Setting and character details for the series have not yet been revealed, but it's entirely possible that Quan's Short Round could return as either a star or supporting character.
Quan himself has also expressed interest earlier this year in the idea of a Short Round Indiana Jones spinoff of some sort, be it a movie or a show. It remains to be seen whether audiences have seen the last of Short Round, but a return to the Indiana Jones franchise for Quan after so many years away does seem fitting.
