A new official image of Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones return arrives as the IndianaJones5 marketing campaign heats up
A new look at Indiana Jones 5 has officially arrived, showing Harrison Ford's return as his iconic character Indiana Jones. Following the divisive fourth installment of the franchise, Harrison Ford is returning one more time to play Indiana Jones. Steven Spielberg developed Indiana Jones 5 but eventually handed the directing job to Logan's James Mangold.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Ahead of Indiana Jones 5's theatrical release next year, the marketing campaign is heating up as Harrison Ford's archeologist graces the cover of Empire Magazine's upcoming issue. The magazine released two covers that tease Indiana Jones 5, one with Harrison Ford featured front and center holding Indy's iconic whip.
Although plot points have so far remained a secret, the Indiana Jones 5 cast is quite exciting. Audiences are understandably hopeful that Harrison Ford's return will give him a proper sendoff from the franchise. Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays the female lead in the sequel as Indy's goddaughter Helena, who is an adventurer in her own right. Indiana Jones 5 also features the return of John Rhys-Davies as Sallah.
These new Indiana Jones 5 magazine covers do confirm that the film takes place in the 1960s and continue the trend of the film's early marketing materials relying on the color gold. This confirms that at least part of the movie takes place between three and 13 years after Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Lost Skull, which took place in 1957. The end of that spectrum is more likely considering how much time has passed between the fourth film and Indiana Jones 5.
