An Indiana January 6 rioter recently pardoned by President Donald Trump was shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy Sunday. Matthew Huttle, 42, of Hobart, Indiana was fatally struck by gunfire during a traffic stop involving a deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department, according to aPolice reported Huttle was pulled over on State Road 14 at around 4:15 p.
m. when a traffic stop led to the deputy attempting to arrest Huttle. Authorities said an "altercation" occurred, which ended when the deputy opened fire, killing Huttle. Indiana State Police added that Huttle had a firearm, but no further details were provided in regard to the altercation or why the deputy moved to arrest Huttle., Huttle and his uncle, Dale Huttle, were both taken into custody for taking part in the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The FBI determined that Matthew Huttle had been inside the Capitol Building for around ten minutes, and remained on Capitol grounds for hours, the outlet reported.Federal sources speaking to WXIN confirmed that Huttle was recently pardoned by President Trump. "For full transparency, I requested the Indiana State Police to investigate this officer-involved shooting. The officer that is involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol and is our policy in these situations," Sheriff Patrick Williamson said. "Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased as any loss of life is traumatic to those that were close to Mr. Huttle. I will release the officer's name once I have approval from the State Police Detectives."
