Curwin Bosch is showing “signs of improvement”, but the Sharks flyhalf’s goal kicking and overall inconsistency for the Durbanites is an concern for coach Sean Everitt.
Bosch has faced stiff opposition from Boeta Chamberlain for the Sharks’ No 10 jersey in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship this season.
But, Everitt has backed Bosch despite his lukewarm form, with the Springbok down to start ahead of Chamberlain against Zebre on Saturday in Durban. “It was a bit of an inconsistent performance for me,” said Everitt on Bosch’s efforts in the Sharks’ win over Scarlets at Kings Park on Friday.“He kicked two touchline conversions, so he did well in that department, apart from missing a 55m kick and two that he’d normally get.
“Generally, he did show some desire from a counter-attack perspective. That linebreak he had in the second half, he was unlucky that Tito [Bonilla] couldn’t hold onto the ball there. It could have led to a certain try.
