Tom Homan claimed Sunday the alleged murder of Laken Riley would not have occurred if President-elect Donald Trump was in office.

Homan, a former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, said during an interview with Fox News host Griff Jenkins that Jose Ibarra, who was charged in connection with the death of Laken Riley, would never have been in the U.S. if Trump was president. Ibarra is currently onin Athens, Georgia, where prosecutors have accused him of "hunting for females on the University of Georgia’s campus.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested Ibarra in 2022 after he entered Texas illegally through its border with Mexico, according to ICE. The Department of Homeland Security ended the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which is officially known as the “Migrant Protection Protocols,” the previous month. In 2023, Ibarra was charged in New York with acting in a way to injure a child younger than 17, according to ICE. Homan said Ibarra would never have been released if Trump was in the White House.
