Rep. Ginny Shaver, R-Leesburg, will chair the House Children & Senior Advocacy Committee. Shaver was elected to the House in 2018. Shaver is a certified municipal clerk who worked for the city of Gadsden and the town of Leesburg. She is former owner of Shaver Tax & Bookkeeping.
State Rep. Matt Simpson, R- Daphne, will chair the House Ethics & Campaign Finance Committee. Simpson was elected to the House in 2018. He is a former prosecutor for Baldwin County and also worked with the Mobile County District Attorney’s office. Simpson is an attorney with the Davis, Davis & Associates law firm, where he specializes in adoptions, mediations, civil litigation, probate law, and business law cases.
State Rep. Corley Ellis, R-Columbiana, will chair the House Insurance Committee. Ellis was first elected to the Alabama House in a 2016 special election and served as vice chair of the Insurance Committee the last four years. Ellis spent 10 years serving on the Shelby County Commission. He owns and operates Ellis Properties, Inc., a real estate brokerage firm in Shelby County.
State Rep. Andy Whitt, R-Harvest, will chair the House Economic Development & Tourism Committee. McCutcheon appointed Whitt to chair the committee earlier this year after the resignation of Rep. Becky Nordgren. Whitt was elected to the House in 2018. Whitt is a community banker and developer and volunteers with community charities, foundations, civic groups, and other organizations.
