State leaders increased the income limit for women to receive benefits through the Woman, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. This change has allowed approximately 2,500 more people to access the program. The program director for WIC expects the income guidelines to increase again next year, potentially making even more people eligible. WIC provides support to pregnant women, new mothers, breastfeeding mothers, and children under five.

She also mentioned that she expects the income guidelines to increase again next year, meaning even more people could be eligible to receive benefits through WIC.
