Dwain P. Williams, a retired Chicago Fire Department lieutenant, was fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire with carjackers in 2020 in the 2400 block of West 118th Street in Chicago. “By doing this like this, it probably leads to one extra day of the trial for you, but three and a half weeks less of trial for the rest of the system,” Cook County Judge Timothy Joyce told the jurors while swearing them in.
