Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science and the Oakland-based nonprofit Scientific Adventures for Girls are offering a free virtual co-ed Family STEAM Night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22.Every month, SAfG’s science, technology, engineering, arts and math nights give families an hour to participate in cool science activities together — and in February, they’re focusing on the chemistry of chocolate and animal relationships with their partner, the Lawrence Hall of Science.
The Berkeley City Council called for the special mail-only election in District 7 to fill the vacancy created by District 7 Councilmember Rigel Robinson’s resignation on Jan. 12. All registered voters in District 7 will receive a ballot and a return envelope in the mail. The vote-by-mail period opens on March 18.
This year, the city will return to developing a two-year budget for fiscal years 2024-25 and 2025-26, following one-year budgets that were adopted during the volatile financial period brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The scholarship can be used at any two-year, four-year or Career Technical Education post-secondary institution in the United States. To be eligible for the Richmond Promise Scholarship, a student must live in Richmond or North Richmond .
Students can apply for the scholarship up to two years after obtaining their high school diploma/equivalency and up to the age of 24 as of the deadline in the year a student applies to the scholarship.
