Rockets insider: Houston unable to match Thunder's energy... or anything else

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Rockets had to know what was coming. Anyone paying any attention to the Oklahoma City Thunder since they lost to the Rockets in Houston, with words dripping with determination to make amends, had to know what was awaiting the Rockets in the rematch.
The Thunder pummeled the Rockets in every way imaginable, and likely a few they had not thought of, building a 45-point lead before the third quarter was over, and piling on untilThe loss was the Rockets’ most lopsided of the season. They allowed more points by far than in any game this season and more than the Thunder had scored. But it was the way they were crushed that was so stunning.
The Thunder have been known to do this. They put 150 points on the Celtics, the team with the NBA’s best record as opposed to Saturday’s matchup against the team with the worst. But after Wednesday’s loss in Houston, OKC was as passionate as the Rockets were passive. “I feel like we were a little tired,” Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr. said. “Our energy wasn’t good to start the game. You get down to a good team like that playing their hardest, it’s hard to fight back.But the Rockets did not wear down. They were blown out from the tip as the Thunder made 8 of 10 shots to start the game with the first punch Daigneault wanted.
