Glamping, but make it Scandi
I can’t say there are many outhouses into which I’ve stepped and inhaled deeply. But on a recent trip to Stedsans-in-the-Woods, a bucolic, unfussily luxurious campsite in a pine forest in Southern Sweden, and for reasons that escape me now, I did just that. And let me tell you… Nothing. Just the smell of fresh sawdust and the sounds of the birds. Perhaps it was a test: to see if the Scandi-topia was as perfect as it seemed.
Genius! But the sleeping quarters, cosy though they are, are not the point of Stedsans-in-the-Woods. Really it’s about the communal experience: the large sauna, one side all glass, in which you can sweat and reflect, while watching your fellow guests having a swim, or cavorting on a stand-up paddleboard, on the large lake on which the campsite sits.
