Imperial Beach school placed on lockdown after unsubstantiated threat of gun on campus [Breaking]
An Imperial Beach elementary school was placed on lockdown Tuesday after officials received a threat of a handgun on campus, law enforcement officials said.Imperial Beach Charter Elementary School was locked down shortly after 10:30 a.m. after information was relayed to staff members that a student was overheard talking about having a handgun during one of the school breaks, said Sgt.
Omar Vega-Armenta in a news release TuesdaySheriff’s Department officials reported finding no weapon or threat to the school, Vega-Armenta said. The lockdown was lifted sometime later, but the time was unclear.“The school staff acted quickly in locking the school down and notifying law enforcement,” the sergeant said.
