An 18-year-old driver, Cesar Rojas, was arrested Friday night for DUI after he allegedly caused a four-vehicle crash in Salt Lake City. Police say Rojas was speeding and collided with another car, causing the struck vehicle to overturn. The 22-year-old female driver of the overturned car sustained minor injuries, while two other vehicles involved suffered only secondary damage.

An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday night following a four-vehicle crash. Police stated that impairment was a factor in the incident. Salt Lake City Police initiated the investigation just before 9:00 p.m. in the vicinity of 400 South State Street. Reports indicated that a driver traveling in the northbound lanes was speeding and subsequently collided with another car at the intersection. The struck vehicle was overturned, but the driver, a 22-year-old woman, sustained only minor injuries.

Two other vehicles sustained secondary damage with no reported injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, Cesar Rojas, 18, was impaired at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody and booked into Salt Lake County Jail on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Negligently Operating a Vehicle Resulting in Injury. In a statement, Chief Mike Brown emphasized the importance of responsible driving and urged individuals to avoid getting behind the wheel if they have been consuming alcohol. 'Driving impaired is an inexcusable and reckless decision that puts our entire community in danger,' stated Brown. 'The victims of these crashes can be left with life-altering injuries, emotional trauma, and, in the worst cases, the loss of life. I urge everyone to make responsible choices by planning ahead, using a designated driver, or calling for a ride. There is just never an excuse for putting lives at risk.
