Garma actually finished the elims tied with Mark Kevin Labog at 8th place but the veteran chess campaigner prevailed in the winner-over-the other tie-break rule. Also missing the cut were Virgen Ruaya, John Philip Gabuco and Omar Bagalacsa. In the first round of the playoffs on Sunday, No. 5 Yap takes on No. 8 Garma and No. 6 Banawa battles No. 7 Arquero.The winners of these matches will then face No. 3 Literatus and No. 4 Antonio for the two spots in the final four.
