Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has said restaurants in Illinois can offer outdoor seating to patrons with certain additional precautions as part of phase three of the state's reopening, which is expected to begin May 29

From CNN's Elizabeth StuartThe Missouri School Board Associationof its plan to reopen K-12 schools, including an alternative calendar where the start date is delayed, and scenarios where school buildings are closed and distance learning must continue.

The 97-page document is intended to provide suggestions consistent with what has been released by state and federal agencies, but makes it clear that it is up to individual schools and local health departments to make the final decisions on which precautions they decide to implement.Missouri's smallest public school district has fewer than 30 students, while the largest has more than 25,000 students, according to the school board. There are also districts that have all students K-12 in one building, while others have dozens of buildings."Because of these differences and many others, each school must create its own plans for reopening schools and keeping them open," the document said.Schools might want to schedule grade levels to attend school on alternate days to minimize the number of students in the building, or schedule half of each class to attend on alternate days. Schools might want to consider a year-round school calendar with alternating breaks to minimize the number of students in the building at any time. Offer both in-person and virtual instruction so that students without adequate resources may still access instruction, but class size in one room is minimized. Reorganize physical education, choir, band, orchestra and other large classes to allow for social distancing.Consider broadcasting in-class instruction to multiple rooms to allow students to spread out.share with Facebook
