Tomislav Ivisic, returning from a three-game absence due to mononucleosis, contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn rounded out the scoring with 10 points for the Illini (15-7, 7-5 Big Ten).
Illinois staged a dominant 15-point run over a crucial five-minute stretch in the second half, ultimately erasing an 11-point deficit. Devin Royal paced Ohio State (13-9, 5-6) with 29 points, including 19 in the opening half. Bruce Thornton added 22 points and John Mobley Jr. contributed 18 points for the Buckeyes, whose three-game winning streak came to an end. Despite shooting a dismal 4 of 20 from beyond the arc, Illinois outmatched Ohio State on the boards, 43-31, and dominated in the paint, 52-30.
