Will Riley led Illinois to an 87-79 victory over Ohio State, overcoming an 11-point deficit in the second half.

Will Riley poured in 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half, leading No. 18 Illinois to a thrilling 87-79 comeback victory over Ohio State on Sunday. Morez Johnson Jr . added a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Kylan Boswell chipped in 14 points. Tomislav Ivisic, returning from a three-game absence due to mononucleosis, contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn rounded out the scoring with 10 points for the Illini (15-7, 7-5 Big Ten).

Illinois staged a dominant 15-point run over a crucial five-minute stretch in the second half, ultimately erasing an 11-point deficit. Devin Royal paced Ohio State (13-9, 5-6) with 29 points, including 19 in the opening half. Bruce Thornton added 22 points and John Mobley Jr. contributed 18 points for the Buckeyes, whose three-game winning streak came to an end. Despite shooting a dismal 4 of 20 from beyond the arc, Illinois outmatched Ohio State on the boards, 43-31, and dominated in the paint, 52-30. The Illini, who had struggled from three-point range in their previous outing, showed resilience and determination. They overcame a first-half field goal drought approaching seven minutes, which allowed Ohio State to build a 34-25 lead. However, Illinois refused to be deterred. Their late surge, fueled by strong defense and timely scoring, propelled them to victory. The Illini now face Rutgers on Wednesday night, while Ohio State hosts Maryland on Thursday night
