KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has received a verbal request to apply for an Interpol Red Notice on Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's son-in-law and a lawyer, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The Inspector-General of Police confirmed receiving the request verbally and reiterated his willingness to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission ."So far we have received the request for assistance verbally," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Tuesday .
The country's top cop was commenting on MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki's statement that graft busters were planning to apply for an Interpol Red Notice on Muhyiddin's son-in-law and a lawyer, with the help of the police."We believe they are in a particular country but we cannot disclose which country it is," he had told reporters.
Last week, the MACC issued a statement that it is seeking Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan and lawyer Mansoor Saat to come forward to assist in the probe into a ministry project involving the registration, recruitment and storage of foreign workers' biometric data. “Based on the MACC’s checks with the Immigration Department, the two individuals left the country on May 17 and 21 respectively and there are no records of their return,” it said.
MACC also said that various efforts had been made to contact the duo, as well as their respective lawyers, but they had failed to present themselves at the MACC office.
