ICYMI: Top-ranked Iga Swiatek defeated 18-year-old Coco Gauff in straight sets in today’s women’s French Open final.
The victory brought an end to Gauff's thrilling Grand Slam run.
"Hopefully we can play each other in more finals and maybe I can get a win on you one of these days," Gauff said with a laugh after the match. Added Swiatek:"You're progressing all the time basically. When I was your age, I had my first year on tour and I had no idea what [I was] doing. So, you will find it and you will be there, I'm pretty sure of that."
Gauff still has a chance to leave France with a trophy. She will compete in the women's doubles final with Jessica Pegula on Sunday against France's Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic. Gauff, a recent high school graduate, is the youngest woman to reach the women's singles and women's doubles finals at the same major since a 17-year-old Serena Williams won both events at the 1999 U.S. Open.
