Morena Baccarin played an important Marvel Universe character as Vanessa, most recently in Deadpool & Wolverine, but she also played a similar role in the DC Universe. Baccarin rose to prominence with her roles in Stargate SG-1 and the cult-hit Firefly before moving on to acclaim in Homeland. Baccarin is perfect for the DC Universe, and she has done a number of superhero voice roles, including Black Canary in Justice League Unlimited and Cheetah in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Vanessa is a sex worker with incredible charisma, and she and Wade forge a perfectly complementary relationship that is still tinged with darkness in the Deadpool films. The same, including the tension at play with the on-again-off-again format of their affection, can be said for Gordon and Thompkins in Gotham. Following this, the DC show is the perfect place to see more of Baccarin crafting a stylish, elegant, and somewhat twisted character with incredible depth.

However, there are plenty of other places to find similar character types, and Baccarin brings the same charm and energy to her love-interest role here. While she is far from a one-note performer, much of the same energy and style is brought to Thompkins as Vanessa, making Gotham the perfect watch for anyone wishing for more.
