My breath is taken away by the lack of care, empathy and emotional intelligence shown by them time and again.
Since the Race Disparity Audit, which revealed huge disadvantages for Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities across all parts of society, I have not seen any tangible changes. Their response to the Windrush Lessons Learned Review has seen them accused of a chronic leadership failure due to their lack of action.
There is a pattern here and we cannot allow it to continue after the latest PHE reports. We need the Government to show some urgency to address racial inequalities in the UK.That should start with the Government implementing the 150-plus outstanding recommendations from aforementioned previous reports and reviews.
I felt like it was a deliberate attempt to agitate the situation. I also felt it was insensitive and not becoming of the country’s foreign secretary – almost as if he was announcing to the world that he doesn’t care a toss.
