Cyril Ramaphosa may be the first president to conclude two terms in office if re-elected ANC national chairperson Gwede Mantashe has his way. Mantashe, a staunch ally of the president, said Ramaphosa should be allowed to finish his second term if the ANC, whose electoral performance has been on a steady decline, wishes to win the 2024 national elections.
