Cricket: Catch all the action from the second T20 clash between Scotland and Australia.
Cricket’s archaic rules were once again in the spotlight after bad light marredPlay was interrupted on two occasions on Friday, much to frustration of fans, players and broadcasters. Bad light and light rain kept players off the field for three hours on either side of lunch, while umpires paused the action once again during the evening session.
Only 44.1 overs were possible on day one, less than half of the intended 90 overs. Ticket prices started at 85 pounds , but patrons weren’t granted refunds because more than 30 overs were bowled. “The way they were going about , playing very well it didn’t look like it was dark,” Rob Key, managing director of the England men’s team, told BBC’s“What you need is to have a proper look and some proper investment into what is dangerous.
The batters weren’t consulted before umpires paused play due to bad light, but pundits questioned whether the visibility was dangerous considering England had been scoring at more than five runs per over.
