In the video, the star judges many different impressions, saying how close they are to his own voice for the echidna. He ends up deciding that Ellie Taylor's is the best out of those who end up trying to make the voice work. The fact that Elba is reprising his role for the cast of Knuckles shows just how well he's able to bring the headstrong, brave echidna to life. As attempts by the cast illustrate, it's no small feat trying to voice the character in the same way his voice actor does. Because his voice offers the right balance between a gruff warrior and a curious young man, it makes it difficult to imagine any other actor trying to bring the character into the franchise's American cinematic universe.
