Colin Gannon bring is fine dining expertise from hotels and restaurants in Cumbria to Southport

An iconic hotel in a popular seaside town has welcomed a top chef to its kitchen. The Grand in Southport has appointed the highly-experienced Colin Gannon as its new 'Director of Food'.

It is a case of coming full circle for Colin, who studied catering at Southport College. The chef has travelled far and wide across the UK to fine tune his cooking skills in restaurants, hotels and resorts including The Isle of Man, The Channel Islands and the mainland. He has crafted menus in establishments such as the three AA Rosette-awarded Red Star Hotel, The Rampsbeck Country House in Cumbria before heading further north to Scotland to One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow. He has also worked as executive chef at the prestigious Shrigley Hall in Cheshire and leading spa resort, The Lodore Falls in Cumbria.Diners can expect "amazing new dishes" on the menu at the hotel's in-house restaurant The Grand Brasserie.

"I will also relaunch the afternoon tea, making it the best around. I want The Grand to be the destination for afternoon tea, which can be enjoyed in The Brasserie." The menu will feature classic brasserie dishes in a new lunch and set dinner menu with three courses for £28. Find out more and book your table, here.
