Wonderland Pier has been an Ocean City fixture for over nine decades.
Updated: Sep. 26, 2024, 12:08 a.m.Wonderland Pier, known for its variety of rides and medieval castle facade, will close for good on Sunday, Oct. 13, one day after Ocean City’s Fall Festival, according to a recorded message that plays when customers call the amusement park’s phone number.
It will be open from 1-6 p.m. on its final day. Its closure ends a 94-year tradition on the city’s boardwalk.shows it will be open Fridays-Sundays through Oct. 13. The amusement park is owned by the city’s mayor Jay Gillian, who, in early August, announced intentions to shut down Wonderland Pier.coalition of people advocatingThe park’s property is owned by Eustace Mita, owner of the ICONA Resorts franchise.
Some in the city are concerned Wonderland Pier could be demolished and replaced with a hotel under the ICONA chain. Mita has told local officials he needs six months to determine the property’s future.
