Who isn't having the time of their lives in Blackpool?
Back in the 80s, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey created what is easily one of the most iconic cinematic scenes in history in Dirty Dancing. Today, dancers on floors around the world attempt to copy that famous finale scene known as 'the lift'.
And anyone passing by Blackpool South Beach today may have done a double-take and been transported back to 1987 when musical performers Michael O’Reilly and Kira Malou successfully re-created the move. Undeterred by the blustery conditions, the duo, who play the leads Baby and Johnny in the Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage UK Tour, nailed the routine on the sand.
The pair are in town during a break from the current tour with the show coming to Winter Gardens on September 26 for a week-long run. The production, which is adapted from the smash hit movie, will feature chart-topping hits such as as Hungry Eyes, Hey! Baby, Do You Love Me?Michael and Kira also spent time at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and enjoying an ice cream on the promenade during their visit to the coast.
