The deal would be one of the largest of its kind, greatly exceeding the $500 million Sony paid for Bruce Springsteen’s catalog in 2021.

Sony is reportedly in talks with members of the acclaimed British rock band Queen to buy the group’s music catalog for what could be as much as $1 billion.

In addition to Sony, Disney, which owns the band’s masters for North America, and Universal Music Group have also had conversations with Queen about the possible deal, reported. The surviving original band members – Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon – all have their own lawyers involved in the deal, so it’s unclear if it will come to fruition or not.

Known for such songs as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions,” “We Will Rock You,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” and much more, Queen has sold more than 300 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling artists in the world. Despite the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1991, guitarist May and drummer Taylor continue to tour as Queen with singer Adam Lambert. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
