Tupperware filed a WARN notice in South Carolina informing the state it is closing its facility at 248 Tupperware Road in Hemingway, South Carolina and 148 people will be laid off. The layoffs will take place between Sept. 28 and Jan. 14.The South Carolina plant’s manufacturing operations will be transitioned to the company’s Lerma, Mexico plant, the newspaper reported.
The WARN Act is federal legislation that offers protection to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered-business closing and covered-business mass layoff.
