Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, has finally revealed the reason behind Ichigo's unexpected career path as an English/Japanese translator after the manga's conclusion. In a recent Q&A session, Kubo explained that Ichigo's passion for connecting different worlds led him to this unique profession.

Bleach fans have long pondered about Ichigo's life after the manga's conclusion, and series creator Tite Kubo has periodically shed light on his path. His latest Q&A session has finally offered some insight into Ichigo's career choice, revealing the how and why behind his unexpected profession.

In the Bleach epilogue, it's revealed that Ichigo has married Orihime and seemingly become a doctor, running his father's old clinic and settling into a relatively normal life with their son, Kazui Kurosaki. However, in the 2021 Bleach anniversary one-shot 'NO BREATHES FROM HELL,' set many years later, it's revealed that Ichigo actually became an English/Japanese translator. Many fans found this a peculiar shift and have been curious ever since about how Ichigo landed such a specific career. Now, Kubo has finally provided an answer through his fanpage, 'Klub Outside.'Ichigo's new career wasn't chosen at random. 'Klub Outside' is a members-only Japanese service, making answers Kubo provides on that platform somewhat elusive. Luckily, X (formerly Twitter) user @Cellexion translated and shared the answer to the latest questions. When asked, 'I always thought Ichigo was going to be a doctor, so I was very surprised to hear that he became a translator instead. Could you tell us how this came to be?' Kubo responded, 'It's because he was interested in connecting two different worlds.' Another question inquired, 'Ichigo became a translator after ten years, but did he have the experience of studying abroad to gain a deeper understanding of foreign languages?' with Kubo replying, 'He studied in England.' While brief answers, they offer a glimpse into Ichigo's life between the manga's end and the one-shot. Having already bridged the cultural gap between the Soul Society and the Human World, it makes sense that Ichigo would want to continue that experience and help connect English-speaking cultures and Japan.Furthermore, Kubo's other work since Bleach's conclusion, 'Burn the Witch,' is set in the UK and deals with a Western branch of the Soul Society. If Ichigo studied English in the UK, it's entirely plausible that he encountered 'Burn the Witch' characters at some point, potentially linking the two series even more closely. This creates exciting fodder for fanfiction writers, but is a crossover actually possible? Given that they exist in the same world, it can't be entirely ruled out, though it seems unlikely at best. Ichigo's career as a translator now makes a little more sense with Kubo's explanation. Ichigo excels at uniting disparate groups towards a common goal, making translating a natural progression. His Bleach ending may have surprised some, but it seems Kubo has carefully considered it all along
