Emails shared by an Aurora, Colorado councilmember appear to show city police acknowledging the gang's activity as early as November 2023.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials warned police in Aurora, Colorado members of transnational criminal gang Tren de Aragua had set up their headquarters in Denver nearly one year ago, according to emails shared by a city official.
“Here is the Tren de Aragua bulletin I plan on sending out department wide tomorrow,” Gang Intervention Officer Matthew Walters wrote. “I also spoke with an ICE agent today who reached out to his intel guy, the guy got back rather quickly, and stated TdA has decided to make Denver their headquarters due to sanctuary policies and location.”
Neither ICE nor the Aurora Police Department responded to a request for comment from The National News Desk Thursday.
