A shooting at an ice rink in Rhode Island has been reported. Here's what's known so far.
Authorities were responding to a shooting at an indoor ice rink in Rhode Island Monday afternoon. Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee and the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives in Boston posted on social media about the shooting, but provided minimal details at this time.
Aerial video from WFXT via LiveNOW from FOX showed multiple emergency vehicles outside the scene, including police and ambulances. McKee said his office was actively monitoring the shooting at Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, which is just a few miles north of the capital city of Providence. ATF Boston said its agents were responding to a reported public shooting in Pawtucket to assist local law enforcement there. Local law enforcement or other state officials haven’t yet confirmed the shooting, or given details about how many people may have been shot or killed. Information about the shooter was also not yet known. A local report from WPRI 12 News said at least one person was killed, and four others were hospitalized.The Associated Press reported a youth hockey game had been scheduled during the time.
