The Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of Victoria Sorrocean, a Moldovan immigrant convicted of torture and murder, who was apprehended by ICE in Los Angeles. Sorrocean had fled Moldova after being sentenced to 17 years for a crime involving torture and the throwing of a victim from a ninth-floor window. She was previously arrested in 2020 but released under the Biden administration. In a separate incident, state police are seeking suspects in a fireworks incident at a Gettysburg Walmart.
Federal law enforcement officers stand guard in the open gate of the fence built on Beach Street outside the Broadview ICE processing facility in suburban Broadview, Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025. The Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of an undocumented Moldovan immigrant who is convicted of torturing, killing and throwing the victim out of a ninth-floor window.
Victoria Sorrocean, the arrested individual, was taken into custody by ICE in Los Angeles on Nov. 4. She was arrested after authorities learned about her conviction of premeditated murder with exceptional cruelty in 2013. Sorocean was sentenced to 17 years but fled the country to avoid her sentence. Sorocean and an accomplice tortured their victim inside an apartment in Chisinau, Moldova, with a stick and an electrical cable before throwing them out the window from the ninth floor. This was not the first time ICE had arrested Sorocean; she had been arrested once before on Jan. 10, 2020, under Trump’s first term. However, she delayed her removal through legal appeals and asylum claims, DHS officials said Sorocean was ultimately released back into the U.S. under the Biden administration in 2022. "It shocks the conscience that the Biden administration released into America a cruel, violent illegal alien who tortured a human being, beat them with an electrical cable and a stick and then threw her victim from a ninth-floor window," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. "This does not even include foreign fugitives like this convicted murderer. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, the world’s criminals are no longer welcome in the U.S." McLaughlin said.State police searching for suspects who lit fireworks inside Gettysburg Walmart State police are asking the public for help identifying three people accused of setting off fireworks inside a Gettysburg Walmart.A woman is facing DUI charges after a crash in Lancaster County, according to Manheim Township Police.Amanda Thomas, 42, is facing DUI charges and other summarIt was supposed to be a short 90-day DUI sentence at the Cumberland County prison, but 41-year-old Erick Gainer of Williamsport never made it home.A business was reportedly damaged Monday afternoon after it was hit by a truck, according to emergency dispatchers. As the effects of the SNAP freeze continue to impact communities, a business owner in Hershey is stepping up to help.
