ICC's Israel-Hamas case flooded by filings - including from SA – causing delays

South Africa is among 60 governments and organisations that can file arguments with the International Criminal Court on its planned Hamas -Israel prosecutions.Such a volume of arguments is very likely to delay a decision on whether to arrest them.

In documents made public on Tuesday, judges granted permission to 18 states, including the United States, Germany and South Africa, 40 organisations and individuals to file written submissions by 6 August. Israel and Palestinian leaders have dismissed allegations of war crimes, and representatives for both sides have criticised Khan's decision to seek warrants.

Some countries who have filed a request including Germany, the United States and Hungary have condemned the ICC prosecutor's move to seek warrants for Israeli officials.
