The multi-talented star of stage and screen is likely most widely known for his performances as Magneto in the X-Men franchise and as the iconic J.R.R. Tolkien character Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
Per Deadline, Ian McKellen fell offstage during the first act of a performance of his West End play Player Kings and was taken to the hospital. Claire Dobbs, the representative for the actor, reports that he "is doing OK." At the time of writing, nothing further is known about the injuries sustained by the actor during the performance, the remainder of which was cancelled.
Following a scan, the brilliant NHS team have assured us that he will make a speedy and full recovery and Ian is in good spirits. The production has made the decision to cancel the performance on Tuesday 18 June so Ian can rest. Those affected will be contacted by their point of purchase as soon as possible tomorrow. Thank you to doctors Rachel and Lee who were on hand in the audience and to all the venue staff for their support.
