“He basically was just saying like he had the right people, but he didn’t have enough evidence and he just needed me to state what he told me to state on camera.”
Oakland police ended up arresting Giovonte Douglas, 31, and 34-year-old Cartier Hunter in connection with the killing. They were convicted of murder in 2016.
“I was debriefed by Tran,” Weber added. “I was told where it happened. I was told the extent to which it happened. I was shown pictures of the actual crime scene. I was told dates and times. I was told what to say by officer Tran.” In all, he said he paid Weber “$1,500 to $2,000, with the majority being provided after the trial,” though he added that “this was not done in exchange for her providing information.”
