“It was clear to me that the case for it was false, it was clear to me that Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program was what I described as disjointed and contained,” Mr Wilkie told Sky News Australia. “I thought the sanctions, the inspections had bottled it up effectively, you know I had in my mind maybe we’ll find a couple hundred mustard shells from the Iran-Iraq war or something like that but of course, they found absolutely nothing.”
