With the lengthy summer holidays stretching ahead and the cost of family outings soaring, parents are on the lookout for affordable ways to entertain their children. YorkshireLive's Tom Kershaw has taken up the challenge of finding as many wallet-friendly yet fun activities for himself and his family.

They arrived at 10.30am and bought an all-day parking ticket for £8. Tom said: "We thought this was the best option as three hours of parking was £6, and we were certain we'd stay longer. The promenade is well-equipped with amenities including public toilets, baby changing facilities, a cafe, an ice cream parlour, and even a shop where you can pick up any forgotten beach toys. For the little ones, there's a paddling pool and an array of quaint chalets and beach huts to explore.
