ECM Automotive s and Prime Time Automotive s off Lancaster Ave. in Columbia lost hundreds of dollars after their AC window units were pushed in and burglars took all their cash. While many try to stay cool, some criminals are taking advantage of unsecured window units.

“Our alarm company notified me Wednesday morning. The AC unit had been shoved through the window and busted right through and they had gotten to the counter and the cash drawer in the back,” Kurtz said. “The window is fine. The ac unit is destroyed,” Kurtz said. “We’re having a steel cage built to go around that before we replace it. You know it happened once; it won't happen twice.”
